Project Management and Organisation

 

Once our project has been identified, one of our Rawplanet leaders will be on the ground making arrangements with the village so that we can get started as soon as you arrive. They will stay for the duration of the project ensuring that everyone is happy and that the project stays on schedule. They also offer help and support to all our participants throughout their stay in country.

 

 

Arrival and Orientation in country

 

We know what it can be like arriving in a foreign country late at night and Africa can be especially daunting. That’s why we have a Rawplanet leader at the airport to meet you on arrival and take you to the first nights accommodation. We will then head out for a drink and a bite to eat and will give you an introduction to your project destination and go through some of the dos and do nots of living and working in Africa. In the morning we will travel with you to the project site to settle in and start work.

 

Accommodation and Food

 

All our project sites have accommodation for our participants, although the setup may vary from place to place. In most cases we use a house provided for us by the village. Please remember that this may be basic and you should be prepared to embrace the long drop toilet or the bucket shower! We provide good local food usually cooked by ladies from the village and safe purified drinking water is always available. Your first nights accommodation may be in a hostel near the airport depending on your time of arrival.

 

Project Materials

 

Part of the cost of your trip goes directly into providing the materials for the projects, from the sand and bricks to the paint and nails. We always buy some basic tools which we leave with the village after we have finished.

 

Support and Advice

 

The UK office team have had plenty of experience living and working in Africa and will be only too happy to talk to you about your trip. Once you sign up to a project we will send you further information on the project and what to expect. Once in country you will have a Rawplanet leader with you for the duration of the project.
